Human rights and the rule of law

Most Central African countries are emerging from a period that has seen political crises, wars and massive violations of human rights.

In this context that is usually referred to as “post conflict” tending the wounded and rebuilding structures is essential but not sufficient, since the authoritarian regimes and armed conflicts have resulted in the destruction of the legal basis of society, the generalised abuse of power and impunity for the perpetrators.

In this context Cosi has put in place :
- Support for local initiatives that will encourage democracy, human rights and the rule of law in DRC
- Managing a team of observers as part of the international effort that lead to the successful elections in 2006
- The encouragement and implementation of support in the Rhone Alps Region of France for the rule of law in the countries of the South.
